Yesterday I was creating a new page for the NetBistrot website. After finish the writing, and keeping it unpublished (available only to administrators), I sent the link for my partner through Skype.
Before my partner had had time to verify the link I noticed an "Access Denied" to this same link. Intriguing, no? I checked the IP that was trying to access an unpublished content. It was:
Ok, it is not a great information, but there are free services that anyone can use in order to retrieve more information from a single IP number. So, I verified something:
IP Address 22.214.171.124
Country Code IE
ISP Microsoft Corporation
Organization Microsoft Azure
Ok, Skype belongs to Microsoft but when I innocently sent the link to my partner I was considering that a private communication. My mistake.
I do not enjoy this kind of access so I decided to verify the access log file and I found this entry:
126.96.36.199 - - [07/Mar/2017:17:23:59 +0000] "GET /content/static-website HTTP/1.1" 403 21829 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) SkypeUriPreview Preview/0.5"
From now on no connection with SkypeUriPreview will be accepted by our server.
