Do you know who you're talking to? (literally)

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about the impossibility of knowing who is trying to communicate with you.

Well, our problems just went a step further

What would it look like if a malicious agent managed to synthesize the voice of a family member and used this technology to send you a voice message saying that he or she is in a difficult situation and that need an emergency help?

According to the Washington Post not only this is possible, it's already happening.

It is not difficult to imagine in the near future that video will also be incorporated into this technique.

Once again, you can't be too careful.

In any situation involving money try to prolong the conversation. For example, ask whoever is on the other side if they have spoken with that relative who has died or if their children are okay.

Try to follow my mother's advice. Don't talk to people you don't know.
